| Green Roof Seminar |
‘Green roofs’ refer to specialized roofing systems that support vegetative growth on rooftops. This workshop aims to introduce building professionals, developers and city planners with the concept of green roofs and demonstrate how this technology can address sustainability in the urban environment. The benefits of green roofs were demonstrated through rigorous scientific research. Design considerations were also discussed through examination of commercially available green roof systems and with reference to current green roof guidelines and standards.
Dr. Karen Liu is the acting program head of the Centre for the Advancement of Green Roof Technology, British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) in Vancouver, BC, Canada. Dr. Liu has been conducting green roof research since 2000. She has established the first North American field facility dedicated to green roof research at the National Research Council’s (NRC) Institute for Research in Construction in Ottawa, Canada.

| Mobile Lavatory System Installed!! |
The Mobile Lavatory System (MLS) is a compact design for the handling of sanitary waste and sewage from toilet and bath room and all toilet wares.
This is a new solution for lavatory in remote areas and outdoor conditions. The system combines features on solar water heater and photovoltaic panels to supply electricity for lighting and infra-red sensors. Besides, Aerobic Wastewater Treatment System (AWTS) is used to enable the reuse of wastewater for flushing. The partition of the system is made of recycled plastic. Stainless steel, instead of porcelain toilet wares, are also used to minimize the need of maintenance.
A new mobile lavatory system is installed in Container Terminal 9. Showers and toilet are included in the system. Solar water heater is in-use in addition to electrical heater. For more information, please contact us at mail@wastech.com.hk or 2602 0308 by phone. |
