The WetSep system is currently being used within the food industry (i.e. Bean Curd Factory). The wastewater from this application usually contains a high content of chemical oxygen demand (COD). The system was used as a primary treatment system for the wastewater treatment system for the factory. After treatment through the WetSep, the COD in the wastewater is reduced by at least 60%. The effluent suspended solids concentration was reduced from 30,000 mg/L to 8,000 mg/L.
Additionally, there was a removal of approximately 70% of the phosphate in the wastewater. After treatment from the WetSep system, a secondary treatment process is used consisting of aeration and sedimentation.
